Scopes for careers in Armed Forces
- Numerous vacancies open up in the military services, and they recruit eligible candidates frequently to fill these vacancies. More than 1,07,000 positions are vacant in the three services, with the Army topping the list with around 86,000 vacancies.
- Service in the army ensures economic stability. The salary has shot up recently and appears to be at par with any other central government services.

- Should have participated in the Sr National Championship conducted by YAI and secured a minimum of 5th position in an Olympic class.
- Should have attained a position amongst the top 50% of the fleet in a class of boat/windsurf completed at the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship.
- Should have represented India at the Asian Games or ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships and secured a medal in Youth/Olympic Classes.
- Musician Officer: Bachelor degree in Music and ability to play military band musical instruments.
Entrance Examinations
- UPSC NDA & NA – National Defence Academy and Naval Academy exam is held twice a year. Candidates must have completed 10+2 examinations, and they should appear for an offline mode examination and SSB interview. By clearing these two stages, they can undergo a three-year course in NDA, Khadakwasla.
- UPSC CDS – graduate level exam conducted by UPSC for the posts of Officers in defence services. They should also clear the SSB interview.
